Susanne        Bonowicz

Susanne Bonowicz's paintings reflect her experiences living and working in different metropolises, especially Berlin, where she currently lives. The resemblance of her abstract forms to urban shapes and lines therefore is no coincidence. Her choice of colors and the contrasts they create make it possible to experience the dynamics and chaos of a large city.

In an interview, Susanne describes her inspiration as follows: »For me, the city is also always in relation to nature. Nature, that is weather, plants and also animals, which try to find their space in the system of urbanization and find hiding places. For me, nature is
an omnipresent element of the uncontrollable. You could say that it is about culture vs. nature – about the mutual relationships and mutual influence.«

The artist (born 1985) studied Art and History of Art at the University of Osnabrueck and at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Her work "Like 25" – exhibited in the group show "Zugunsten der Gegend" (with fellow artists Christian August, Lena Marie Emrich, Moritz Neuhoff and KLUB7), curated by Office impart – is part of the Baerenfell collection since 2020.
